44: Why Investing in Yourself is Non-Negotiable – An Interview with Francesca Phillips

I’m so excited to introduce you to my incredible friend, Francesca Phillips. Francesca is the co-founder of The Good Space, a spiritual wellness brand that’s on a mission to teach intuitive creatives how to know their inner voice and use it as a foundation for every decision they make. The Good Space sends weekly newsletters filled with answers to all the questions you have about topics like law of attraction, manifesting and alignment.

I asked her to join me to discuss investing in yourself, and we had an amazing conversation on the topic. Here are three stellar ways Francesca invests in herself:

She uses her time wisely

One thing I really admire about Francesca is that she isn’t only devoted to one career path – she has a variety of passions and has found a way to dedicate time to everything she loves. In addition to running The Good Space, Francesca does digital marketing for a number of clients – and on top of that, she is a marketing consulting for L’Oreal.

“This is a good challenge because any time I have before or after [work] has to count, it has to matter,” she told me. “How can I actually maximize the time that I do have?” This has meant occasionally saying no to social events, fitting in courses during her lunch break and waking up earlier to do her morning routine (which includes priming!).

“I see my time as treasure. It is something I can’t get back. It is something I can feel is wasted,” she said. “I would rather wake up at 6 a.m. than sleep and know that I lost that time.”

Morning routine’s are non-negotiable

“I kid you not, I see my life as before a morning routine and after a morning routine,” Francesca said. She lived for three years in Switzerland, and during that time, she wasn’t able to work legally so she would sleep in until 11 and do little projects – but she grew sick of it and tired of the inability to make something happen in her life. She texted Taylor for her morning routine and Francesca decided: Today is the last day I wake up without purpose.

“I didn’t know what the purpose was, but I knew I would start waking up to prime and would be on the path to purpose.”

She primed for two weeks and became converted. She started writing more, building better relationships, investing in courses, learning new skills and more.

“This is a non-negotiable,” she realized about her morning routine. “This has to happen every morning.”

Enroll in courses

Interested in learning a new skill? Take a class. Need to work on yourself? There are courses for that, too! Need to surround yourself with inspiring people? There are events for that purpose!

Francesca has put money toward all of these types of things to bring more value into her life. Here are just some of the benefits she’s experienced as a result:

  • She signed up for a copy-writing course and was able to get clients with confidence as a result.
  • By signing up for yoga classes, her energy levels are high and she feels plugged into God’s power.
  • She recently paid $500 to attend Create & Cultivate, a conference in New York City, where she got to connect with incredibly inspiring women – and being around their energy and influence lit her on fire. “If you don’t have friends or people around you that can help you grow and expand, you need to change your friends or you need to find them.”

Feel nervous about investing in yourself? Ask why.

“Why don’t you want to invest in yourself?” Francesca said. “Is it because of an insecurity? Is it because you put everyone else ahead of you? Is it because you don’t see yourself as valuable as someone else or something else? Get to the root of what is holding you back and then work through that. Get to that point where you can see yourself as worthy of that time or money or whatever the case may be.”

How do you get rid of limiting beliefs?

While I had Francesca, I had to ask her how she removes limiting beliefs that get in the way of her self-growth. Her answer: Medidate.

“Learning how to disconnect yourself, that is where the ability to not have those limiting beliefs happens. A lot of times we view those limiting beliefs as who we are. The minute you can be like, “Oh, that thought is just floating on by, I’m not going to connect with that,” that’s when everything changes.”
