54: Letting Go of Timelines – A Lesson in Getting Back to What Matters Most

I’m sitting in a hotel room right now at 12:08 a.m. at Podcast Movement in Orlando, Florida. Coming to this event was a leap of faith, an investment in myself as I try to take everything to the next level. I was presented with this opportunity and really debated whether I could go out of town for a week and spend the money on this event. I was walking outside with my dog while priming my mind and as I was doing so, I was hit with this question:

What would you be telling the universe if you don’t go?

It hit me so hard. If I don’t go because I’m worried about money, I’m telling the universe I have lack. If I don’t go, I’m telling the universe I’m not worthy of investing in myself. If I don’t go, I’m not going to meet the people that the universe wants me to meet. I would be closing that door to unknown possibilities. And I’m happy to say that I’m here. I have been asking for help and it was delivered.

Listen to those small promptings because it will take you so far. Place your order with the universe. Do not get caught up in the how. Set your intentions. Drop the limiting beliefs. Turn it over to your higher better and believe. Be ready to receive and be grateful for it.

What it really comes down to

As I’ve been here and reflecting on myself and my goals, I’ve realizes business is all a self-development journey. If your belief system isn’t healthy, it doesn’t matter how many courses you buy – if you don’t clear out the limiting beliefs and the gunk in your minds, none of those dreams can manifest for us. That’s why I’m obsessed with priming our minds, watching our thoughts, being positive and truly believing in ourselves. My approach to having success in my business and life, it all comes down to mindfulness.

But I want to know from you: Does that resonate with you? If you are willing to hop on a brief phone call with me, I’d love to set that up to hear what is serving you on the show and what you need more of. I am here to serve you so please, let’s chat so we can find out what you need. DM me at @TaylorMorganDesign so we can set that up.

Let’s talk about deadlines

Lately, I’ve been really stressed with deadlines I’ve been putting on myself. Between my business Cove, this podcast, building my new site and blog, TaylorMoran.US, and more, the pressure I’ve been putting on myself is getting more and more intense. I’ve felt like I’m constantly letting people down, and the things I was getting done went unnoticed by myself because I just kept seeing my big to-do list. I was trying to hurry and hurry, chasing ultimately revenue for me and my investor. I’m still living in fear of running out after going through a traumatic experience of my ex-husband leaving me with $30 to my name after cheating on me. So I’m consistently putting pressure on myself to find the revenue.

Why? Why do we do this to ourselves?

You guys, we have to strip the timelines, and we have to get back to what actually matters.

I have to stop running my business out of fear, out of lack, and get back to why I do what I do and what actually matters in my business. Enough is enough. I will no longer put that pressure on myself or my business to run on fear. It’s just not happening anymore. And I’m cutting ties from anyone or anything who is going to put that pressure on me. I’m coming from a place where I know I have an abundance of wealth and support for me and love, and I am worthy of it – and so are you.

I was listening to Gabby Bernstein the other day and she said:

Focus on the content, not the framework.

How good is that? Let’s focus on what we love – and not on accomplishing the work by a certain date. This works for professional goals, and personal too. I’ve talked before how my boyfriend and I are close to getting engaged, and I can’t help but get wrapped in WHEN it’s going to happen – which distracts from being present and enjoying our life together.

My advice to myself: Let yourself be surprised from the universe. I’m learning to trust and let go in both my business and my personal life. When things are right, they fall into place. You don’t have to push the timeline. Focus on what you love – lead from THAT and it will all happen when it should.

Three takeaways

Here’s what I want you to take from this:

  1. Don’t approach work driven by aggressive timelines. Be driven by content. Pace yourself. Fall in love again with your mission. Your passion and love for what you do will drive you to get the work done and it won’t feel like work. If you need to, get an accountability partner and set check-in dates with each other.
  2. Love yourself. You are valuable just as you are. You are not your job.
  3. Trust the universe has your back. Trust that it will bring what’s meant for you to you and allow it to come.

Life is a beautiful adventure, so let’s start enjoying the ride and stop just trying to reach the destination. We have to love our lives RIGHT NOW.
